Environmental protection engineer

Dragana Pešić, an ecologist, joined LEONI through the "My First Salary" program in 2021. She is now an environmental protection engineer.

My story at LEONI

My name is Dragana Pešić, I´m a graduate ecologist by profession. I started working at LEONI on December 27, 2021 as part of the "My first salary" program. After completing the program, I was given the opportunity to stay with the company. Now I work as an engineer for safety, health and environmental protection at work - specialist.

My job

No two days are the same, each one is a story in itself. When I get to work, the first thing I do is check the accident report, if there have been any. Then I go to the meetings that take place in production. Sometimes we also have meetings with external companies that check the procedures, equipment and machines in the factory itself. I prepare numerous analyses, reports and protocols that we submit to the labor inspectorate. I also prepare reports to improve certain production processes.

My role is essentially to comply with all legal obligations, standards and internal procedures for health and safety in the workplace so that all employees are safe at work, which is most important for all employees, for us as a department, for our factory and for the company as a whole.

My highlight

After the MPP program, I got the opportunity to stay in an employment relationship with the company. I got the opportunity to further improve and develop in the direction I wanted. This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to learn and develop.

My view of LEONI as an employer

After completing a nine-month professional development program as part of "My First Salary", I was fortunate enough to be hired by LEONI and I couldn't be happier. During my internship, I witnessed the company's strong commitment to safety, ensuring that all employees are protected and safe during working hours. This commitment to safety is of paramount importance to me and I really appreciate that LEONI adheres to procedures and standards to ensure this.

My colleagues have been welcoming and supportive from day one and have given me the opportunity to learn and grow. I am grateful to work with such accommodating people whose support and communication are essential to the success within our team and across the different areas of the company.

The team atmosphere at LEONI is exceptional. We work in a spirit of collaboration and mutual support, with experienced colleagues willingly sharing their knowledge and experience with newcomers like me. There is no egotism, instead we foster an environment of open communication and teamwork, resulting in a positive and productive work environment.

Overall, I have had a very good experience with LEONI as an employer. From the commitment to safety to the supportive team dynamic, I feel fortunate to be part of such an outstanding organization.

My tips

Learning every day, working hard and gaining all the knowledge that is available here. It's a big company and it really offers a lot of opportunities. I would especially advise young people to apply for the "My First Salary" program because it's a really good opportunity that they can take advantage of if they're worth it.
